(collaboration)Aperiodic_Vertebrae

In recent collaboration with Skylar Tibbits (sjet.us) and Marc Fornes (theverymany.net) I was fortunate enough to be able to help in the areas of material research and fabrication of the Aperiodic_Vertebrae physical installation for the “Generator.X v2.0: Beyond the screen” – a workshop and exhibition about digital fabrication and generative systems curated by Marius Watz (www.generatorx.no/) in collaboration with Club Transmediale and [DAM] Berlin.

The fabrication and assembly consists of nearly 500 flat panels (11 types) all CNC milled within 6 sheets (8 feet by 4 feet) of corrugated plastic (4 colors: black, silver, grey, white and translucent) and also nearly 500 assembly details (moreless all unique!) all laser cut onto 7 sheets of transparent acrylic… The finished piece to measure 13 feet long and all of the panels and assembly details were able to fly to Berlin nested in one suitcase alone.
